The Rhythm & Blues Intensive is a five-week incubator for music artists and dancers who are ready to elevate - and willing to invest in their craft like the professionals they intend to become.

Selected artists are matched with a full creative team: choreography, conditioning, creative direction, music direction, and one-on-one coaching. The intensive culminates in Rhythm & Blues at VIBE Restaurant & Lounge on Friday, August 28th - a luxe dinner-and-show experience where you perform for a real, paying audience across two seatings, professionally filmed and edited.

You leave with a polished set, professional footage, a paid booking on your résumé, and the habits that get you rebooked.

FOR ARTISTS - 2 slots

You'll build a polished ~25-minute set - your original music, woven together with storytelling that moves the audience through every selection, plus an R&B medley tailored to your sound and brand. Original choreography with dancers on select numbers, freestyle moments, and moments that are just you and the mic.

And here's the part that makes this a real booking: you perform your set twice in one night - once at each seating. Two audiences, two runs, double the footage. That's how working artists actually work.

Your experience includes:

• Private coaching in voice, movement, and performance

• A dedicated team: choreographer, dancers, music director, conditioning coaches

• Creative enrichment support - styling, costuming, sound and lighting design

• Do's & Don'ts of Getting Booked - a group intensive on professionalism in the entertainment industry: communication, pitching, auditioning, your kit, your brand

• Guidance on contracts and securing payment - because you'll be signing one and receiving one

• 15+ hours of in-person rehearsal and conditioning

• A professionally filmed and edited performance for your portfolio

• A guaranteed $75 performance stipend - with a bonus when the night sells out

FOR DANCERS - up to 6 slots

Train in commercial heels, jazz, and hip hop while learning original choreography for a live production - supported by conditioning built for performers: pilates, yoga, and dance-based strength training.

Your experience includes:

• Intensive choreography and conditioning with the Chez Joie team

• Performance at both seatings of Rhythm & Blues - two shows in one night

• The Do's & Don'ts of Getting Booked group intensive

• A professionally filmed performance for your reel

• A guaranteed $75 performance stipend - with a bonus when the night sells out

• Entry into the Chez Joie family: preferential access to future performances, films, and music videos; discounted (sometimes free) sessions; access to our network of choreographers, artists, photographers, and businesses looking for talent; and discounted rates on Vivre Dance Project training

Do's & Don'ts of Getting Booked (virtual): Wednesday, July 29

Rehearsals are held in person in Alexandria, VA on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Exact studio location, full rehearsal calendar, and your prep checklist are shared with confirmed participants.

Show day is a full-day professional commitment: check-in at 1:00 PM, tech rehearsal, and both seatings (4 PM- midnight). Plan for it the way you'd plan for any booking - because it is one.

THE INVESTMENT

Payment plans are built for working artists:

• 25% deposit due July 27 - secures your slot

• Second payment due August 10

• Final balance due August 21

All balances must be paid in full before the performance. Unpaid slots release to the waitlist after July 27.

Applicants along the East Coast are welcome. Rehearsals are in person in the DC/Northern Virginia area; housing and travel support are not provided.
